This White family history information has been published as an extension of the smiley.id.au website. It reflects the 1938 marriage of a member of the Smiley family, Bertha Agnes (Bid) Smiley and Edwin (Ted) George White, son of George and Myra White.
The early part of this Australian White family begins when Irishman Patrick Francis White was transported to the colony of New South Wales following his conviction for stealing. After getting his convict's freedom, he had a short marriage before moving to Melbourne where he married for a second time. Subsequently he settled in Western Victoria where he and his second wife raised 12 children. Many of the resulting family remained in that part of Victoria.
